Gurjars in ‘The Great Ashoka’s Era

We also find Gurjaras in the times of Great Asoka

Map 1.5 Gurjara rock edicts can be seen near river Yamuna, A Gujjar Stronghold till date

King Asoka was from the great Morya clan. In Punjab and nearby areas, the local Gujjars use the word mor or Morya as a prefix. The khatanas of that area always called themselves as ‘Mor-Khatana”. As written by Late Rana Ali Hassan Chouhan (29th descendent of Prithviraj Chuahan) in “Short History of Gujjars”.

It is not that everyone who ruled in that era has to be a Gujjar but Asokas rock edicts and mori clan’s direct relation to parmar Gujjars (of Malva and Rajasthan) has definitely something in common.
